Free Gilman Study Abroad Workshops: Reaching Out to Underrepresented Groups
The Gilman International Scholarship Program and the Institute of International Education are reaching out to advisers at underrepresented institutions and those who work with underrepresented students through a series of one-day workshops entitled "Diversifying the Kinds of Students Who Study Abroad and the Regions Where They Go."

These workshops are designed to provide faculty and administrators with tools to help increase the number of students studying abroad on their campus and to prepare them to better assist students in submitting competitive applications for the Gilman Scholarship. The Gilman International Scholarship Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education.

Six workshops will be held across the country during the 2008-2009 academic year.
